Informed Consent
This 3 part video course gives a
comprehensive review of
Informed Consent and the application in a modern dental practice. The viewer is taught ways to ensure
proper disclosure of treatment options to the patient , and how to
properly
document this two way communication process. Taught by Dr. Philip Barbell, this
course outlines the basic legal doctrines of Informed Consent which
supports
the current trend toward more disclosure.
The emphasis of the course is on the process
not the “form”. And that the process
is a two way conversation with the patient at their level of
understanding. Dr. Barbell also
covers aspects of “negligence and consent” and also “informed refusal”. And some procedures do not require
informed consent while others must be documented in writing, and signed
by the
provider and the patient. All
aspects of Informed Consent are reviewed in an easy to understand
format meant
to give you tools to use in your practice.
This course is suitable for all members of the professional
dental team, and for training new staff.
